“Putting For Hope”

The snow has melted, the greens are growing, and the carts are ready to go. The eagerly awaited golf season is here. It’s time to dust off those clubs, polish up that swing, and tee up at this year’s “Putting for Hope” Golf Outing for Domestic Violence Project, Inc. This summer’s outing will once again be held at the Spring Valley Golf Course on Friday, with registration beginning at 8:30 am and shotgun start at 10:00 am. Coffee and donuts will be provided. Rain or shine, this once again promises to be a fun-filled day with a box lunch provided shortly after teeing off and a cookout and auction/raffle following the play.

We had a fabulous time at last year’s event and plan to make this one even bigger and more exciting. Last year’s outing raised $17,000 to support DVP’s ongoing mission and most importantly helped the victims and their children overcome the wounds of physical and verbal abuse. We hope to surpass that figure this year. Paul Feaser, Director of Security for Diebold, Inc., and John Juergensen, Attorney at Black, McCuskey, will again be co-chairing the event. Their committee is Barb Blevins, Jeff Blevins, Jenee Capponi, Robert Thompson, Kurt McCabe, Gerry Parker, and Donna Seich.

If you would like to “chip” in, the following sponsorships are available: $2500 Name the Event, $500 Corporate, $100 Hole, and $50 Cart. Don’t miss out on the fun! Golfers are encouraged to put together their “foursomes” and reserve by filling out the registration form and sending it to DVP, P.O. Box 9432, Canton, OH 44711, or by calling DVP at 330-445-2000, ext. 247. Cost per individual golfer is $65.00 and team entries are $260. If you wish to charge, please call the above number using ext. 244 for our Human Resources department. Both men and women are welcome to participate. We look forward to seeing you on.


“Angels Of Hope”

Motorcycle riders and community members welcome! This event will take place on Sunday, August 19, 2007 with first bike out 9 a.m. and last bike out 11 a.m. The beautiful scenic route will be approximately 100 miles long. The ride will begin and end at The Pub and Panini’s Bar and Grille. A light breakfast will be available at the beginning of the event with an all-you-can-eat picnic buffet and live band featuring Breakline in the evening. Pre-registration for the ride is $15 (buffet included) if purchased by August 1. If you are not a “rider”, you can still be a part of the fun by purchasing a buffet ticket for $15 per person if purchased by August 1. After August 1, the cost for the ride (buffet included) or for a buffet ticket will be $20 per person.

The following sponsorships are available: $500 Live to Ride, $300 Ride to Help, $100 Help to Heal, $50 Angel, and $20 Halo. More detailed information, along with a copy of the contracts and registration form is available via the link. The Live to Ride sponsor receives four complimentary tickets, while the Ride to Help sponsor receives two complimentary tickets.

This is the first time DVP has held a Poker Run and all proceeds are targeted towards the Renew Counseling and Recovery Center. Renew provides counseling for victims of domestic violence, as well as, women with chemical dependency issues. Dawna Howard, initiator of this event, is the Staff Chair while Bev Bokovitz, DVP Board Member and Chief Operating Officer of Affinity Medical Center, is the Board Chair of the event.
